Chameleon woman

Once happy knowing herself, she walked full of confidence and promise into the unknown world of connection. Seeking new adventures and revelations, to learn new thoughts and ways to live in the world. She fought those who tried to squash her, or cause her harm. She grew to know only the cruelty that was the people around her.

Chameleon sat in the stillness in her own state. Forever mindful of the hot suns rays. From out of nowhere came a herd of people, without thought or desires they simply inhabited her space. Like a flood she heard their inner most thoughts, their desires and their tears the fears that they shared not. Insecurities that rot them to the core, responsibility for their lives abandoned to instant pleasures and gratification. She finds herself feeling more than her original bliss, more than the body absorbing suns kiss. Wave upon wave break over her head, she is struggling to breath, to feel the thoughts flow in her own head. Suffocating on unshielded remorse or unrequited love or was it after all the conceited wish to simply be loved. Known to the whole world for doing precisely nothing, these animals were strange in the importance they put on such things.

She looked in one direction to feel panic and pain. Another brought joy but there it was, momentary food gluttony and then again. Yet another brought love and an intangible kind of ignorance, still further she searched for something more and a lot different. They were a group craving a group, they didn't belong and yet knew they could. Standing there with the technology of the day connecting to everyone yet not to those a stone throw away. Connecting to the world on metaphysical lines, but wanting the connection physical touch brings.

The chameleon had lost herself in all this, her skin had changed quite a hundred times, to keep up with the feelings that washed through a now animal mind. Wave upon wave came from this ocean to wash over her consciousness and abrade her devotion to herself. Adapting thousands of times to the non essential, frivolousness of the collective animal. But as the sun died his temporary death, below the earths surface to his transitory place of rest, the human animals departed for the seeming safety of their homes. To wallow yet further in the days unconcerns. Putting their heads in the sand with films and with drink. With anything that might help them to sink, into unconscious peaceful oblivion and away from life's hard plans and sweaty stink.

Suddenly alone, confusion sets in. She has become nothing but a reaction machine. All her energy that was inside at the beginning of the day, was taken up with forever changing to this now gone herds emotional play. All sense of self lost. All energy to find it gone. She puts her head in the sand and wishes the life to be drowned out of her reptilian bones. Dreamless sleep was not meant to be, as they came forth as does a tyrant of bees. Stinging her into feeling the pain of being a live, knowing the knowledge that she can't just lay down and die. She rises in the cold midnight air, breathing in deeply and seeing the moon smiling at her. The moon asks her what she would do now, if all the worlds freedom was hers for the making. He asked her what she liked of her past, what she wanted from her future. She could only stand looking aghast. He sat there when she cried, laughed in the face of a seeming danger. Chameleon searched inwardly to the deepest parts of herself, she knew she was blessed but the not answers of the moons questions did her jest. So she searched on in her internal quest. Changing color like the shifting sky, through sunrise, to midday when the sun was again out to play. To evening and sunset and repeating all that. Night after night she would she his gentle face,  no wiser in the relentless days passing, missed. After one whole year and one whole day, the full moons face shone her way. He asked her again.

Chameleon women whispered that love is what she remembered, although hard to come by. Continually being molded by past stories like a lump of unrefined clay. Moon asked again feigning the inability to hear. She spoke again, this time with frustration a little more clear. As she did so, a myriad colors glimmered under her skin. Subdued by their depth but with a willingness to thrive therein. Full moon smiled at her answer. Chameleon i will grant you one wish, for you have given me great joy and great sadness together in one delectable dish. i have watched you for a year and a day,  your color shifting like the ever active thoughts inside you unable to obey. The answer was simple, but you didn't trust it when the question was first asked. Like a prince who has to go on a mission to find hardship before he can be king. You needed to find yourself and what was within. You are the strongest of your kind that i ever had pleasure to watch in the din. I wish you to come to me in my realm, but leave you free to take up your own path. Know that i love you.

In that moment chameleon women spoke, she asked to have wings to fly away from the earth. Far away from the noisy consciousnesses of the animals here. To find a place where she could be herself, embalmed in serenities embrace. Souring through the emptiness of space. She wanted to fly closer to the sun and feel his unhindered warmth. Bath in the moons tranquility and feel the safety within his gentle magnetic pull. The moon was a little a taken back. Never in all his lifetime had he expected this. This creature would come to his domain and live a life so like his own. He was born to loneliness and now not alone.

Style tip: to hide or expose, that is the question

Where is the line between wearing too much and not covering enough. Probably easiest way to answer this question is to ask what you want to bring to an outfit. Modest and sophisticated for the work place or sexy club outfit. The choice is yours. What intrigues me is where this imaginery line is and how to make more informed choices about what we wear and in this case how much. I am sharing this topic because in the last days i have seen so many women wearing things that look like underwear in public or frumpy clothing that hides all signs that there is a beautiful women under there. It may sound like i am a prude but i have you know i am the first to try a low backless dress, low cut top or short skirt. But i like to look sexy rather than arriving as if i didn't have enough time to dress myself. Deliberate wearing of an outfit also means you can cross a few borders. But for now here are my tips for helping to make an informed choice.

  1. If you can see the outline of your hand underneath a shear dress or top, then you should definitely consider wearing something underneath. Well designed underwear for the out there girl or strapless top for the more conservative women out there. Boob tube type tops are great in these situations if you like to find something inbetween.
  2. On the experimental first try out mission you have everyone heads turning, and not necessarily in a good way. Take on board what people were noticing and make some changes. While peoples opinion about your clothing choices shouldn't rule you, there is something to be said fr outfits that do everything you want them to do while leaving those around you comfortable. I think there is an art to this. The easiest thing in the world is to wear something shocking.
  3. Wearing a transparent top? then check what else you are wearing. If you wear the top with a short skirt and stiletto heels you might be taken for something you don't want to be. Combining a sexy top with straight leg jeans and heels can be a classy way to add a sexy aspect to your outfit.
  4. Personally i love the avant garde outfits from the runway and would also love to try out the more wearable ones on the street. Most people can't handle this, so keep in mind that just because you see it on a runway or in a performance setting of some sort, it doesn't mean its suitable for the street or casual parties.
  5. Sexy doesn't mean exposed, often the contrary. Add a little mystery to an outfit and you get a load more heads turning without making people feel uncomfortable about looking and even enjoying.
  6. If its see through now, know that if a photo is taken there will be even more showing. Choose how far to go now rather than regret the photo online everywhere later. Its a funny tip but with the social network and photo culture we have today its not long before one embarrassing photo becomes public knowledge.
  7. In the end, comfort is the most important thing. If you have a great outfit that is making you uncomfortable its probably doing more harm than good. How can you shine when you are worried about what you are wearing?
In the end you are the boos, the decision is yours. Make sure its a decision and make the most of what you have without going overboard to the point of over exposure. See below for more style tips and fashion articles.

Style tip: play, exchange & self empowerment

When assembling an outfit its important to think through the different layers and the things you will be doing while wearing your latest choice. Sound funny? Well some pre-thought on this might save you hassle later and keep you always looking good whatever you are putting on or taking off.

When I talk about layers it refers to the different layers you can put on and the different combinations possible. For example outside you have one look with coat, scarf, boots and trousers, but if it get warm and sunny you loose the scarf and coat, is your outfit still working for you? Are you warm enough? Adding a few thinner layers can help with situations where you are not sure if you will be warm or cold. You can always get rid of these later and don't take much room up in your bag. Does this new combination in your style work colour, texture and combination.

Even underwear is often forgotten, have you realized that different shaped bras and briefs create different shapes in your silhouette? While this article is mainly aimed at women it goes for men too. The layers underneath have a direct effect on the ones above. If not then take notice the next time you are getting dressed. Underwear although almost never seen can make or break and outfit.

Second check point is the practicality of an outfit. A clothing choice should live up to the practical requirements you might have until you change. If you are going on a long hike you definitely don't want heels or clothing that restricts movement, on a date you would wear something that makes you feel relaxed and attractive. The other alternative is changing for every different activity which is possible but a lot work.

Lastly the feel of an outfit is addressing how you feel in it and what image or unconscious reactions do you get from other people. The reactions you want from other people is a good thing to keep in mind when deciding what to wear. We have a great power to decide many aspects of how we are seen by others, too few of us really use it and even fewer use it to bring out the best of themselves. Rather than be ruled by the 'good style choices' we made. An example of this is when you see someone walking down the street in absolutely beautiful clothing that might or might not combine, but its elegant and sophisticated. See the problem, the clothes were wearing the person and the person who had taken all that trouble to find beautiful things remained hidden. Wear your clothes and don't be ruled by them.

There is a psychology behind this too. While many of us want to be seen we might not be ready for it. Fighting tooth and nail to put up bounderies and hide. Using too much make up and overbearing clothing choices, or worse simply not caring at all.

For myself i tend to approach an outfit in on from the end result needed or desired if i need to be more effecient while working with a specific look. This then decides the choices about underwear, accessories and layers which work well toward this goal. If i have time and no particular look in mind its fun to build from the underwear up, especially if you are going out. Its nice to take time for the preparation, going with what you feel to be the right thing for that moment, changing if need be. More on this topic another time.

The style tips above can be the difference between getting a job from an interview, a second date or generally just feeling good in your skin. Bring together awareness of layering, activities of the day and suitability, lastly adding the projected image you want to bring when out and about. Make a choice about how others see you and empower yourself today.
